Privacy policy

Your run is personal.

Last updated September 13, 2026

This policy explains how Plainstride Labs Inc. handles information in the Plainstride iPhone app and related web services during the beta.

Information we handle

Account information

When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier and, when the provider makes it available, your name and email address. We also retain the version and time of your most recent Terms acceptance. We use this information to authenticate you, maintain your Plainstride account, and document the agreement governing the service.

Android waitlist

If you join the Android waitlist, we retain the email address you submit so we can send Android launch and early-access updates. Waitlist addresses are not added to unrelated marketing lists.

Runner and fitness information

Plainstride may process information you provide about goals, experience, availability, readiness, body profile, workout feedback, training plans, and completed activities to provide and personalize app functionality. Completed activities and their metrics are synchronized with your Plainstride account when syncing is available.

Location and activity routes

Plainstride uses precise location while recording an outdoor activity. Completed route points and related activity metrics are synchronized with your Plainstride account when syncing is available. If you explicitly start private live sharing or a live group run, current location, route progress, pace, and optional heart-rate updates are sent to our service and made available to the people participating in or given access to that feature. Approximate or one-shot location may be used to provide local weather context. Plainstride does not continuously collect location when location-based features are not active.

Apple Health

With your permission, Plainstride can read workouts, workout routes, height, weight, heart rate, active energy, running or walking distance, resting heart rate, date of birth, and biological sex from Apple Health. Plainstride can also save completed workouts, routes, distance, and active energy to Apple Health. Apple Health permissions control what Plainstride can read and write. Information imported from Apple Health may be used for training and personalization, saved in Plainstride, and synchronized with your Plainstride account. We do not use Health information for advertising. You can change access in iOS Settings or the Health app.

Activity photos

Photos attached to an activity are saved in Plainstride on your device and, when activity syncing is available, automatically uploaded to our service so they can be restored across your signed-in devices. We store the image with its capture time and activity context, which may include pace, heart rate, distance, capture type, and precise coordinates. With Photos permission, Plainstride may also save copies to the Plainstride album in your Apple Photos library.

Voice and music

Speech input may be processed on your device or by Apple speech services, depending on the device and feature. When you choose to send a voice cheer, the audio is uploaded to our service and made available to the intended runner. Apple Music access is used only for the playback features you choose.

Profile and social information

If you use social features, Plainstride processes information such as your display name, username, avatar, biography, connections, groups or circles, posts, captions, comments, reactions, invitations, reports, and audience choices. When you share an activity, its details, route, attached photos, and associated activity metadata may be visible to the audience you select.

Usage, device, notification, and subscription information

After you sign in, Plainstride uses Firebase Analytics to collect limited product-usage events and screen names linked to your Plainstride account identifier, together with app version, build, iOS major version, language, authentication state, and standard information provided by the analytics SDK. If you enable notifications, we process a push token, platform, app identifier, and locale. Apple and RevenueCat process purchase and subscription information, entitlement status, and a Plainstride account identifier to manage access to paid features. We use this information to operate, understand, secure, and improve Plainstride, not for third-party advertising.

Feedback and diagnostics

If you submit feedback, we receive your report text, authenticated account ID and email, current app page, and any screenshot you leave attached. Optional diagnostics include the app version, specific device model, iOS version, and a short, size-limited tail of recent Plainstride app logs. Log collection is restricted to Plainstride-owned diagnostic categories, preserves Apple log privacy redaction, and applies additional token, email, and precise-location filtering before upload. However, your report text or screenshot may contain information visible on your screen, including health or location information, so review the report and remove the screenshot before submitting if you do not want to share it. Apple may separately provide TestFlight crash and usage diagnostics under your Apple settings.

How we use information

Service providers

Plainstride relies on service providers including Apple services; Google Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, analytics, messaging, hosting, and storage; RevenueCat for subscription management; email delivery services for feedback and communications; and mapping, weather, music, AI, speech, or transcription providers for features you invoke. They receive only the information reasonably needed to provide their services and process it under their applicable terms and safeguards.

Sharing and visibility

Your private plan, health context, and readiness reasons are not shown to other runners by default. Profile, social, and activity content is shown according to the actions you take and the audience you select. Publishing or sharing an activity may reveal its details, route, photos, and associated metadata. Live location or group-run information is shared only when you explicitly start that feature and with people who participate or receive the relevant link. Avoid sharing content or forwarding links to people you do not trust.

Retention and deletion

We retain account and server-backed app information while your account is active and as reasonably needed to operate and secure the service. Feature-specific data, such as active live-location updates, may have a shorter operational retention period. Android waitlist email addresses are kept until the related launch updates are complete or you ask us to remove yours. You can delete your account in Me → Settings → Delete Account; this deletes associated server account data and clears Plainstride app data on your device, subject to limited retention required for security, legal compliance, backups, or resolving disputes. Account deletion does not delete copies saved to your Apple Photos library or workouts and other data held by Apple Health or another third party; manage those copies in the applicable app or service.

Your choices

You can decline optional permissions, stop live sharing, choose the audience for social content, remove activities or photos in Plainstride, change Apple Health or Photos access, sign out, or delete your account. Some features will not work without their related permission. To update or remove an Android waitlist address, email info@plainstride.com.

Children

Plainstride is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as the beta evolves. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when a change is material.
